Animal Crossing's First Bug-Off Event Is Tomorrow
Aside from Wedding Season, June has been a fairly uneventful month in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but a new in-game event is just around the corner. This Saturday, June 27, players in the Northern Hemisphere will be able to take part in the game’s first Bug-Off.
Much like the Fishing Tourney, the Bug-Off is a recurring event in Animal Crossing. This competition is hosted by Flick and focuses on catching bugs rather than fish, with some bug-themed furniture and other items up for grabs depending on how well you perform.
Since the Bug-Off takes place this Saturday, K.K. Slider won’t be holding his regularly scheduled concert that day; instead, the wandering musician will show up in your town on Friday, so be sure you don’t miss your chance to get more K.K. Slider songs.
In the meantime, Wedding Season is still underway. Until June 30, you can head to Harv’s Island and take anniversary photos for the llama couple Reese and Cyrus. If they’re happy with your photos, you’ll earn wedding-themed furniture along with a new type of currency called heart crystals, which you can exchange for other seasonal items.
A new type of seasonal crafting material is also available in the Northern Hemisphere: summer shells. You’ll find these washed up on the shore of your beach throughout the summer, and they can be used to craft special DIY recipes. A couple of new seasonal items are also available to purchase from the Nook Stop terminal for a limited time, and there’s a new summer update coming on July 3 that adds swimming and more.
