Untitled Goose Game Physical Editions For Switch, PS4 Coming This Fall
Against all odds, one of 2019’s most iconic video game characters was a mischievous goose, who was introduced to the world in developer House House’s surprise hit, Untitled Goose Game. The game sold over 1 million copies in 2019, so it’s no surprise Untitled Goose Game is getting a physical edition–in fact, it’s getting two, along with a vinyl soundtrack. The standard boxed edition and an iam8bit-exclusive Lovely Edition will release for PS4 and Nintendo Switch on September 29; the vinyl will be available that day as well. They’re available for pre-order starting today. Of course, you’ll get some bonus goodies when you buy the game physically–check out what comes with each Untitled Goose Game edition and get a look at the vinyl soundtrack below!

Pre-order Untitled Goose Game vinyl soundtrack
Music plays a major role in Untitled Goose Game–the playful piano music by Dan Golding (adapted from Debussy’s Préludes) reacts wonderfully to what the goose is doing in the game, whether it’s honking at a villager or dragging away an item. The upcoming Untitled Goose Game vinyl aims to recreate that experience with a unique “Double Groove” pressing, which creates a random playback experience every time you listen, similar to the dynamic nature of the in-game music. The record is pressed on reclaimed vinyl (literally created by grinding up old vinyl and melting it into new discs) along with a 100% recycled jacket and eco-friendly shrink wrap. It’s available to pre-order for $30.
iam8bit is taking to create eco-friendly physical packaging for many of its games, so expect to see more physical editions and vinyl soundtracks like this in the future. “We love physical games and vinyl. They’re not just cherished collectibles, but also cultural and archival artifacts,” said iam8bit co-owners Amanda White and Jon Gibson in a press release. “We also recognize that we only have one planet, and over the last year, we’ve been diligent in developing better, eco-focused packaging and production techniques. Think of this as the ‘Alpha’ version of our ‘better for the planet’ packaging. Change doesn’t happen overnight, so we really wanted to start the conversation as a first step toward the goal of 100% eco-friendly packaging for physical games.”
