Ubisoft’s The Division Resurgence Is A Mobile Entry In The RPG Shooter Series
Tom Clancy's The Division has a few notable things about it. It made heads turn when a trailer launched for it, showing off remarkable visuals. Although when it released in 2016 on the PS4 and Xbox One, it couldn't quite match the density of detail depicted in the trailer, it did mark the debut of the versatile and powerful Snowdrop game engine. Since then, the game spawned a sequel and now a new mobile title.
The Division's broken and gritty world is coming to mobile, in the form of The Division Resurgence. Ubisoft describes it as a triple-A experience with a new storyline set in the "massive urban open-world of New York City". Those interested can now register for the closed alpha.
The Division series are RPG shooter games set in a New York that's stricken by a virus. Using a third-person view, the mobile title looks impressively close to the console original, with a detailed urban open world. The developer promises that Resurgence will offer a "unique perspective of the events around The Division 1 & 2". Players will be able to roam the open world either solo or in co-op, and engage in various PvE activities, ranging from story missions to world activities.
The Division Resurgence will be free-to-play and will have a new storyline, villains, and factions. "As an agent of the Strategic Homeland Division (SHD) your mission is to restore order, to protect civilians against hostile factions, and to help them rebuild a better future".
Ubisoft, in a manifesto published on the game's webpage, is keen to point out that mobile players are getting pretty much the same Division experience as console players, with Resurgence a "natural universe extension" of the series, but with controls and some aspects of gameplay adapted to the less complex interfaces of mobile. "We feel very lucky that the mobile market has evolved to the point where we can develop such an ambitious game," the Division Resurgence team said.
The mobile title will be on iOS and Android and those wanting to sign up for the closed alpha can do so here. In other news, The Division 2 is getting year five updates.
