The Medium launching in December as first Xbox Series X exclusive
The Christmas season is looking to be much spookier than usual, as Xbox exclusive The Medium reveals its release date.
The Xbox Series X may no longer have Halo Infinite as its big exclusive when it launches in November, but early adopters can look forward to a different kind of exclusive the following month.
Bloober Team has confirmed that its psychological horror game The Medium will release on December 10 for Xbox Series X/S and PC, which means it will probably end up as the new Xbox’s first console exclusive.
A new trailer was released announcing the date, though it doesn’t reveal any new gameplay outside of some admittedly creepy environments, accompanied by a piece of music called Marianne’s Theme; Marianne being the main character and titular medium.
Pre-orders are live now, with the PC version available via the Microsoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
If you are thinking of pre-ordering it for PC, you may want to do so via Steam, as it nets you an official soundtrack, with music created by legendary Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka, and a digital artbook.
Anyone who really likes the music track in the trailer can get it as a free download through Steam as well.
As Marianne, players will explore and interact with both the real and spirit worlds simultaneously, thanks to Bloober Team’s dual-reality gameplay.
What that means in gameplay terms still isn’t really clear but apparently it makes use of the SSD’s ability to instantly load in new worlds, which is why it isn’t on Xbox One.
The Medium releases on December 10 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
