New Studio Ballistic Moon Is Working With Sony To Make A Triple-A PS5 Title
There’s a new triple-A game on the way from a brand-new studio. Ballistic Moon is hiring to make a game in Unreal Engine 5 for a "big publisher," with more posts on Twitter hinting at what the game might be about.
Located in Farnborough, UK (at least for now), Ballistic Moon’s leadership team seems to mostly come from Supermassive Games, the makers of Until Dawn, The Quarry, and The Dark Pictures Anthology. Creative director Neil McEwan previously did a two-year stint at Supermassive as creative director, and technical director Chris Lamb also worked on Until Dawn while at Supermassive Games.
For more we turn to a ResetEra post by Angie, who credits Toumari with spotting a listing for the upcoming game in a job listing. Ballistic Moon is currently using the placeholder name of "Project Bates" to describe its new triple-A game for the PS5, and the "big publisher" is listed as Sony Interactive Entertainment. The ad also lists motion capture director Joshua Archer, who also previously worked on Until Dawn at Supermassive.
There are a ton of recent posts on Twitter showcasing extensive mocap work, although Angie notes that this could just be for proof-of-concept work as the game is still in its very early stages. Ballistic Moon lists 35-40 people currently working there, although it’s certainly trying to hire more.
With this much motion capture and so much talent from Supermassive, we can only assume that this new game will be a similar choice-based narrative game like Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology. With Sony providing support, we might even get to see a few celebrities fill roles in this game’s cast.
It’ll probably be years before we learn more, but you can follow Ballistic Moon on Twitter to stay up to date with what they’re doing.
