New Mortal Kombat Movie Gets Cool Animated Posters Alongside New Trailer

Warner Brothers Pictures has officially announced the new Mortal Kombat movie will release on April 16 after being put on ice due to the pandemic last November. A new trailer for the live-action movie has also been released, while the creators have shared some cool animated posters with iconic Mortal Kombat characters and their final design.

The new action film based on the world-famous fighting series from Ed Boon and John Tobias is something players have been waiting for years. Fans of the Mortal Kombat series can choose where to watch upcoming live-action flick, as the movie will be available worldwide at cinemas and exclusively on HBO Max to watch from home.

The announcement from the studio comes with a bunch of animated posters of its key characters, who many Mortal Kombat players already are familiar with. The official Twitter account for the new Mortal Kombat movie has released several posters, including Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Josh Lawson as Kano, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Max Huang as Kung Lao and many others. As you can see, iconic fighters keep their recognizable features with a fresh approach by the studio to make them feel as modern and spectacular as possible.

New Mortal Kombat will be the first movie for the gaming franchise in 24 years when Mortal Kombat: Annihilation was released in 1997. Directed by Simon McQuoid, this modern version introduces a new MMA fighter Cole Young played by Lewis Tan, who finds himself among remarkable combatants and gets an invitation for the Mortal Kombat tournament to protect the Earth against the enemies of Outworld.

Original Mortal Kombat fighting game was released in 1992, followed by a series of sequels, spin-offs and reboots.
