MLB The Show 21 servers are going down once again today on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Like with previous MLB downtimes, server maintenance has been scheduled to take place at 4am pacific time – which is 7am eastern and 12pm BST. The official MLB The Show Twitter has advised fans to finish all games before this time.
Announcing the server downtime the MLB The Show Twitter posted: “Server maintenance is scheduled at 4 AM PT on Monday 5/3/21. Please complete all games prior to that time. Thank you.”
The latest batch of server maintenance comes after downtime was schedule for both days over the weekend.
MLB The Show 21 downtime was scheduled on a virtually daily basis last week.
While today’s round of server maintenance marks the third week in a row that downtime has taken place.
Xbox reveal the upcoming Series X console
MLB The Show 21’s launch week had plenty of server maintenance scheduled, which came off the back of a release day where a large number of players reported receiving an ‘unhandled server exception occurred’ network error message.
On Friday the MLB The Show Twitter said a game update and server update was pushed out that was meant to resolve a number of issues.
The account tweeted: “Game Update 3 & server update @ 4 AM PT on 4/30/21 includes: Increased progression rate of Ballplayer fundamentals. Search functions in the Stadium Creator Vault.
“Roster download error fix. And more.”
While previously the @MLBTheShow Twitter said addressing server performance was a priority for the team.
The account posted: “Our priority is to improve our server stability and performance. As we continue to work on those issues, we will be extending the Double XP until further notice.
“Thank you all for your reports and your continued patience.”
MLB The Show 21 launched on April 20 and servers are likely having to deal with record player numbers.
That’s because, for the first time, the Sony-made MLB series has arrived on Xbox consoles.
Besides launching for PS4 and PS5, MLB The Show 21 is out now for the Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
Having MLB The Show arrive on Xbox consoles for the first time alone would be enough to bring in a huge amount of new players.
But MLB The Show 21 also arrived on Xbox Game Pass on Day One.
Xbox Game Pass is estimated to have 23million subscribers, and this double whammy of Xbox news is likely to have added extra server strain.
