Hitman 3 is more serious, lets you import previous games’ content
Developer IO Interactive has shared several new Hitman 3 details, including the option to import content from previous games.
Hitman 3 may have technically been announced last year, but we really didn’t learn anything about it at the time.
We got a proper trailer for it during the PlayStation 5 reveal event, but it was entirely pre-rendered and didn’t feature any gameplay.
Fortunately, we haven’t had to wait long for some concrete details, as developer IO Interactive held a livestream recently. Again, no gameplay was shown but we did learn some interesting new things about the game.
Firstly, there will be six locations for Agent 47 to visit at launch, with Dubai acting as the opening level – where you’ll be able to scale the Burj Khalifa, the tallest skyscraper in the world.
It sounds as if these levels will continue to be open for players to explore, with IO stressing that ‘the sandbox is king.’
But those who own the previous two games will have access to even more locales, as it will be possible to import levels from both the 2016 Hitman game and Hitman 2.
This will also apply to any equipment and weapons you unlocked in Hitman 2, so you can head into Hitman 3 already armed to the teeth with the means to assassinate your targets.
IO Interactive added that the tone will be ‘a lot more mature, serious, darker,’ although still not completely devoid of humour.
Lastly, animated cut scenes will be returning and the developer even shared the main voice cast, with David Bateson reprising his role as Agent 47.
Hitman 3 will release in January 2021 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
