Here’s Your First Look At The Upgraded Environments In Nier Replicant
It looks like Nier Replicant is coming along nicely if the latest screenshots are anything to go by. These beautiful landscape shots show off Nier’s haunting environments of an ancient civilization (our civilization) that one made enormous structures but have long been lost to time. Urban ruins, ruined bridges, and a stone necropolis are all just a taste of what Nier Replicant’s remaster has to offer.
Originally called “Nier” when it was released back in 2010, the action RPG grew to a cult following in Japan where eventually a second version called Nier Replicant was released. This version altered the main character to be a younger version, and instead of saving his daughter from a wasting disease, it was changed to be his sister.
Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139, a remaster of Nier Replicant, was announced in March of this year for current-gen consoles and Windows PC. It will update Nier Replicant to use the same engine as Nier: Automata, vastly improving the game’s visuals while adding additional gameplay elements such as new weapons and spells, as well as new Japanese voice acting from the original voice actors and a remade soundtrack.
Some of the landscapes shown in this recent set of screenshots might seem familiar to those that caught the latest trailer from September’s Tokyo Games Show. That trailer, while showcasing Nier Replicant’s revamped combat and graphics, also gave us a release date. Nier Replicant arrives on April 22 in Japan and April 23 in North America and Europe.
For those more interested in a new Nier experience, Nier Reincarnation is a mobile title coming to both iOS and Android. The latest news has Nier Reincarnation opening official social media accounts to provide fans with immediate updates on when pre-registration for early access or possibly an open beta will arrive.
We still don’t have any dates, but we do know that Nier Reincarnation will be coming to North America, so stay tuned.
