Elden Ring Player Discovers Dectus Golems Aren’t Hostile If You Have Both Medalion Halves
There are two ways onto the Altus Plateau in Elden Ring. The first involves going the long way around, passing through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice at the northernmost edge of Liurnia of the Lakes, or you could scrounge around for the two halves of the Dectus Medallion. This will activate the Grand Lift of Dectus, taking you up to the Altus Plateau in relative comfort and putting you a mere stone’s throw away from Leyndell.
Of course, getting both halves of the Dectus Medallion is a lot harder than it sounds. It involves fighting your way through Caelid and its abominable dogs and massive undead crows, among other horrors. Nobody likes Caelid, so most of us sneak our way onto the Altus Plateau by taking the long way around.
And when we do finally wander across the Grand Lift of Dectus, we get attacked by two iron golems who really don’t like us. But as it turns out, you can avoid fighting those golems if you have the completed Dectus Medallion.
Reddit user RadinQue proved that having both halves of the Dectus Medallion makes it so the iron golems don't become hostile. Just have the medallion halves in your inventory and the Dectus Golems remain peacefully stationary.
On the plus side, iron golems suck, but on the negative side, not taking the Ruin-Strewn Precipice to the Altus Plateau means you're missing out on a lof of Smithing Stones. Either way to Leyndell is valid, but I'm a Tarnished that needs a +15 Cross Naginata to function at a bare minimum.
Another thing that I need to function, at least in Elden Ring's PvP, is the password system developed by the Elden Ring Colosseum subreddit. This system allows Tarnished to engage in honorable combat against like-minded foes who might not want to optimize their build. Instead, you might want to cosplay as Geralt of Rivia, wielding a longsword and a few magic spells that aren't specifically designed to end a Tarnished in as few blows as possible. You can read more about this handy system and how it can help your PvP experience here.
