Doctor Who Fans Have Brought Cybus Industries To Life In Mock Campaign
Cybus Industries is a new Twitter account that's cropped up, putting Cybermen into our world whether that's through Photoshopped metro ads or fake news articles. And it's doing all this while poking fun at British and, sometimes, American politics.
"The right to bear arms, the 2nd Amendment upgrade," the fake Cybus Industries website reads. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Pre-order exosuit upgrade today." And no, it doesn't mean guns, but literal Cybermen arms.
The website even features cosmetic upgrades such as a red option: "You've been asking for more design options. We've been listening." Aside from that, Craig Owens has his own talk show called The Late Late Show, while fake interviews have been shared with 'real' Cybermen, giving us a glimpse into the mind of these cold, emotionless soldiers. "I actually can't sweat… due to my upgrade."
Cybermen are constantly trying to take over the world in Doctor Who, but this account imagines a world where they take over slowly and not necessarily by force. They own and operate a streaming service called Cybus+, sell collectable action figures, and even campaign for voters.
In fact, this fictional company has become so popular that a completely-fictional CEO has decided to try and buy it: "Following months of speculation, Elon Magpie is expected to submit a record-breaking offer to Cybus Industries shareholders in the coming days." According to "Forbes", although not the real Forbes, Magpie has made an offer of $2.1 trillion to acquire the revolutionary Cybermen company.
But it's not all popular in this fictional world. According to a satirical news story, vandals have been defacing tube posters by scrawling "Capitalist Scum" and "Do not" above the "Upgrade Today" slogan.
Bill even makes a return to discuss her journey. It's in-depth and has been running for months now, so if you fancy keeping up to date with the slow crawl of Cybermen domination, you can check out the full catalogue on its Twitter.
