Demon’s Souls Remaster Best Builds – Class Guide

If you’re jumping into the Demon’s Souls Remaster in the next few days when PS5 launches, you might want to know which class you’ll choose in advance. This guide will talk you through the differences between each Demon’s Souls class so you can make the right decision and spec it into a beast.

Before we jump in, though, it’s worth noting that your starting class doesn’t determine your fate here. You can respec into another class as you progress, and you can still wield different weapons and learn magic, even if your starting class doesn’t initially support that.

Here’s what each of those stats mean:

Soul Level – this is your character’s level, and you can only increase it and spend souls you’ve banked once you’ve beaten the first boss: the Phalanx. Your physical defense rises with Soul Level, but so does the souls requirement to reach the next level, much like a traditional levelling system in an RPG.

Intelligence – this is all about magic. Higher Intelligence allows you to wield more spells and have a larger pool of MP (magic points), which you need to use to fire those spells off. Some items, such as Catalysts, raise your max MP. You must be at least Level 10 in Intelligence to learn spells. You shouldn’t underestimate spells in Demon’s Souls – they can save your life.

Strength – Strength gives bonus to attack power but, more importantly, it also governs what weapons you can wield. You can wield weapons with a low strength stat, but you won’t be able to swing them effectively. Press triangle to hold the weapon with both hands and you get a 50% increase to Strength – useful for bastard swords and other large weapons. If you don’t meet the strength requirement for a shield, you will use more stamina to block attacks with it.

Endurance – This stat increases your stamina and allows you to roll more quickly with heavier gear. Put points into this for every class so you can be more light footed. Putting points into Endurance also increases fire resistance more than putting points into other stats. Stamina maxes out when Endurance is at Level 40.

Vitality – This is your overall health and it also increases how much equipment you can carry. Health is also affected by World Tendency and being killed and turned to Soul Form.

Faith – Faith allows you to learn and store spells, maxing out at four spell slots at Level 36. You can raise Fath beyond Level 36, but it will only increase your magical defense.

Dexterity – This stat determines your power with certain weapons – generally weapons with an A or S rating to Dexterity. Dexterity also reduces the damage you take from falling.

Luck – This stat increases the drop rate of items and increases your Plague Resistance.

Magic – Magic increases the damage you do with magic spells and weapons.

Choosing a specific gender also has an impact on certain pieces of equipment you can use. Here are the things you can pick up depending on your gender. In Demon’s Souls Remaster, you can switch your gender at any time.

Male only equipment:

  • Ancient King’s Armor Set
  • Dark Silver Armor Set
  • Venerable Sage’s Armor Set
  • Shaman’s Armor Set
  • Saint’s Armor Set

Female only equipment:

  • Silver Bracelets
  • Dull Gold Armor Set
  • Binded Armor Set
  • Rogue’s Armor Set
  • Old Ragged Armor Set

Demon’s Souls Remaster – Best Build

Here are some of the best classes you can spec into as you level up and find equipment:

PvP specialist: Warrior

  • Vitality – 40-99
  • Intelligence – 24
  • Endurance – 40-99
  • Strength – 40-99
  • Dexterity – 40-99
  • Magic – 10
  • Faith – 16
  • Luck – 8

This class is all about mastering weapons and dealing damage, and the only magic they use are spells of protection such as Warding. Pumping some points into Magic also allows them to wield powerful magic weapons. This class is best for invading other players for PvP. Recommended starting class: Temple Knight.

PvE specialist: Master Mage

  • Vitality – 8-99
  • Intelligence – 40-99
  • Endurance – 8
  • Strength – 11
  • Dexterity – 12
  • Magic – 40-99
  • Faith – 16-24
  • Luck – 8

This class is just as powerful as a pure warrior, relying on deadly spells to take down enemies with AoE and ranged attacks. It’s easier to spec into if you start with the Royalty class – especially since you start out with a Catalyst (required to use spells). Swap out your shield for MP regen items and unlock the Firestorm spell from Yuria The Witch in the Boletarian Palace as soon as possible. Homing Soul Arrows and Soul Rays are also your bread and butter. Use the Soulsucker spell to double the amount of Souls you get from enemies and level up fast.
