DanAllenGaming Is "Ashamed And Disappointed" For Creating TheRealInsider

Both TheRealInsider and DanAllenGaming have closed their accounts on Twitter after admitting that they're actually both run by the same person. DanAllenGaming's persona was that of a content creator, while TheRealInsider was an "anonymous" leaker. However, the facade fell away yesterday after DanAllenGaming accidentally responded to a question directed at TheRealInsider on Twitter.

Unfortunately for DanAllenGaming, the stuff he leaked as TheRealInsider was often the information provided by publishers under embargo. Rather than abide by the embargo terms, Dan would leak the information as TheRealInsider, according to YouTuber LegacyKillaHD. Violating embargo rules typically have legal ramifications including stiff financial penalties. Dan leaked information presented at Ubisoft Forward after the French publisher provided him with the names of both Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade and Assassin’s Creed Codename Red.

Dan may already be feeling the consequences of his actions. Both DanAllenGaming and TheRealInsider Twitter accounts are offline, but Eurogamer spotted a confession and apology post on Dan's account before it went dark.

"I'm sorry to everyone for my actions," wrote Dan. "I'm ashamed and disappointed in myself. I'll be taking some time to reflect on my poor decisions, which will never occur again. To everyone that has supported me over the years, I'm truely [sic] sorry I let you down."

Ubisoft has yet to comment.

Ubisoft did, however, respond to questions about "cultural tourism" regarding Assassin's Creed Codename Red. Announced at Ubisoft Forward, Codename Red is set in feudal Japan and will serve as a major foundation for Assassin's Creed Infinity. Developed at Ubisoft Quebec, the devs are collaborating with Ubisoft's Japanese division as well as local consultants "in the interest of cultural authenticity and sensitivity."
