Call Of Duty Warzone Season 5 teaser confirms loot train, hints at start date

The first official teaser for Season 5 of Warzone shows that previous rumours are true, but there’s still no sign of Call Of Duty 2020.

It looks like the rumours were on the money and that Season 5 of Warzone will see the introduction of a train full of loot, as well as other major changes to the Verdansk map.

The rumours from earlier in the month suggested that the battle royale would be getting a train that circled the map and a new interior for the stadium.

The stadium isn’t shown in the clip above, but you can definitely see a train in the background, as well as hear it sound its horn towards the end of the footage.

The clip was sent on a USB inside a rook chess piece. Rook was a character from Modern Warfare 2, which is an unexpected reference as this year’s new Call Of Duty is widely expected to be an entry in the Black Ops sub-series.

Perhaps that’s not what the chess piece is referring to but either way Season 5 is expected to be used as a means of announcing Call Of Duty 2020, with many of the Easter eggs and references so far, such as the hidden nuclear bomb, appearing to relate to the Cold War setting of the early Black Ops game.

Activision has never confirmed that’s how things will work though and there’s also a reasonable chance the new game could be announced at the Xbox Games Showcase on 23 August.

When Will Season 5 of Call Of Duty: Warzone start?

Season 5 is expected to start sometime around 6pm BST on Tuesday, 4 August. Or at least that’s when the timer for the Battle Pass ends.

The teaser trailer sent to NICKMERCS shows the date 5 August, which suggests that, by the time Season 4 has ended and Activision has updated the servers, it’ll be the next day until the game resumes.

Although of course almost everything video game related has been subjected to delays this year, thanks to the coronavirus, and that includes most season starts – so early August is probably about as precise as you can be at the moment.
