Call of Duty Black Ops 2020: Reveal date for new COD could have leaked

Call of Duty 2020 could be getting revealed soon, with the first look at the Black Ops reboot potentially a few weeks away. We’ve already gone past the halfway point of this year and usually at this stage Activision would have announced their next Call of Duty title. Reveals for new COD games typically happen around May time, but curiously this year there has been radio silence on the next Call of Duty game.

All fans have to rely on currently is leaks, with the next Call of Duty game believed to be a reboot for the Black Ops series set during the Cold War.

In recent weeks there has been some activity which could hint a Call of Duty 2020 reveal is about to take place.

Last week a listing for The Red Door – which is believed to be the codename for Call of Duty 2020 – appeared on the Microsoft Store.

This came after the same listing appeared on the PS Store in June. While files for Black Ops 5 have also been discovered on Blizzard’s BattleNet.

The addition of these files and listings to digital marketplaces could be prepping for an inbound Call of Duty 2020 announcement.

And a leak may have revealed when the Call of Duty Black Ops reboot could be getting unveiled.

We have just seen the Xbox Games Showcase take place, where COD fans may have been hoping for an announcement.

That big event came and went without any Call of Duty news, but there is believed to be another next-gen event just around the corner.

Sony are rumoured to be holding a PS5 event in early August, with leaks claiming the State of Play will be taking place on Thursday August 6.

Sony and Activision have partnered previously to make Call of Duty announcements during presentations.

So maybe the reason the reveal for Call of Duty 2020 hasn’t taken place yet is because there’s a deal in place between the PlayStation and COD makers.

The next PS5 event is rumoured to be taking place at 9pm BST on Thursday August 6. For those in other regions that’s 10pm CEST, 4pm eastern and 1pm pacific.

Serrano previously leaked the re-arranged date for the PS5 reveal event in June.

The alleged leak, which should be taken with a pinch of salt, chimes in with other rumours that Sony had another PS5 event planned for August.

Serrano tweeted: “*BREAKING NEWS* #PS5 fans, pin this. Sony @PlayStation 5 next event is scheduled for AUGUST 6th 2020 – 1pm PT | 4pm ET | 10pm CEST. *TO BE CONFIRMED*”.

The upcoming PS5 event could reveal details on the console’s release date, price and when pre-orders will open.

While one of the most heavily rumoured announcements is that Sony will unveil a new Silent Hill game that’s exclusive to the PS5.

We could also see something from Square Enix, possibly a Final Fantasy 16 tease or news on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2.

The PS5, as well as the Xbox Series X, have a holiday 2020 release window. While the new Call of Duty game is slated for an autumn/fall 2020 launch.
