WePlay Esports and Boxer Oleksandr Usyk Partner for WePlay Ultimate Fighting League
WePlay Esports, its managing partners Oleg Krot and Yura Lazebnikov, and undisputed world cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk announced a new partnership on Sunday that will see the Kyiv-based esports tournament organizer launch a new division dedicated to the competitive field of fighting games competition. The new division will be called the WePlay Ultimate Fighting League (WUFL).
Financial terms were not disclosed.
The announcement took place on Dec. 13, on the final day of the WePlay Dragon Temple tournament for Mortal Kombat 11.
The 33-year-old Ukrainian-born professional boxer was the undisputed cruiserweight champion from 2018 until he vacated the title in 2019. He earned the distinction of “undisputed” by holding the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO titles simultaneously.
