Learfield IMG College and Psyonix Connect to Add Rocket League to Level Next, The Collegiate Esports League – The Esports Observer

Learfield IMG College has announced it has an agreement in place with Psyonix to add Rocket League as a featured game title for its esports events and league, Level Next, The Collegiate Esports League.

Rocket League will now become the centerpiece of Learfield IMG College’s upcoming nationwide Level Next Rocket League Spring Showcase with registration for the event now open.

Additionally, Learfield IMG College says Unilever has become a sponsor with “significant” engagement for this spring.

For all college students currently attending a four-year accredited university, they can now register for the Level Next Rocket League Spring Showcase, which starts on May 10. This event is expected to host more than 1.5K students and also “provide an avenue for Unilever to leverage its United for America program and help create awareness for the pervasive issue of food insecurity on U.S. college campuses.”

Unilever will also donate 1M meals to Feeding America in the attempt to “create awareness for food insecurity on campuses” and to promote its National Day of Service on May 14.

The showcase boasts a $125K USD prize pool that will see participants compete for a share of a $75K competition prize pool. The other $50K will be awarded to 20 college esports programs through a Twitter competition.

The event will be streamed on Twitch with more than 40 hours of gameplay.

Level Next launched in October 2020 and partnered early with Electronic Arts (EA) and is the largest intercollegiate esports league. It is also the first league to be supported by official school branding and athletics marketing assets.
