Goldenglue retires from pro playing and signs with 100T Academy as Head Coach
The year 2020 has been crazy in many ways, and in the competitive League of Legends scene, things have happened that have marked a before and after in the history of this community.
Among the recent events that have most impacted fans are the acquisition of Luka ‘Perkz’ Perkovic by Cloud9, the signing of Martin ‘Rekkles‘ Larsson by G2 Esports, or the retirement of LCS legends such as Yilian ‘Doublelift‘ Peng or Søren ‘Bjergsen‘ Bjerg.
A few hours ago a new retirement was announced that may not be as shocking as Doublelift’s and Bjergsen’s, but it also puts an end to an eternal of the North American competition: Greyson Gregory “Goldenglue” Gilmer hangs the mouse.
Goldenglue is a classic of the LCS. His first important appearances in the North American League of Legends competitive scene happened back in 2015 when he signed with Immortals.
After that, he went from team to team over the years, highlighting among them Team Liquid, Cloud9, Golden Guardians, and finally this year 2020, Evil Geniuses.
Now, the North American mid laner has taken the decision of starting a new adventure. Despite he won’t be participating in the LCS as a player, he will not be missed too much in the scene: he has been announced as the new Head Coach for 100 Thieves Academy Team.
Welcome @GoldenGlue as our 2021 League of Legends Academy Head Coach!
Greyson has been playing LoL competitively for the past 7 years. We’re excited to bring his experience and game expertise to 100 Thieves under a coaching role for the 2021 season! #100T pic.twitter.com/fe01nzHTKQ
