Fnatic are the first ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League grand finalists
ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League is getting closer to its climax point, and the first to get one series away from the title is the region’s recent dominating team, Fnatic.
Along with TNC Predator, Fnatic made it to the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League upper bracket playoffs after crushing the opposition in the one-month long group play, and after taking down Neon Esports in the semi-finals, they were given another shot at matching up against TNC Predator, who swept Geek Fam in the opening series of the playoff bracket.
The upper bracket finals started with a perfect Morphling game for Fnatic, who took the lead from early laning stage and were able to impose a fast-paced tempo courtesy of a mid lane Clinkz and a roaming Tiny from Djardel “DJ” Mampusti. But despite the crushing performance in game one, Fnatic were forced by TNC to a decisive game three with a classic Gyrocopter-Io combo and Death Prophet’s push power.
Io was banned by Fnatic right from the get-go in the final game of the series, while the support Tiny was brought back along with a well-rounded draft that gave Fnatic both the push advantage and the team fight control tools to keep TNC under pressure.
While Fnatic have now secured their presence into a grand final match for the fourth time since the competitive Dota 2 scene was forced to move to an online-only format, TNC will have the chance to bounce back and challenge their regional rivals once again from the lower bracket finals. Both the lower bracket finals and the grand finals are scheduled for tomorrow, July 19 when ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League will crown its champions.
