CS:GO Esports Supplants Pokémon Unboxing — Weekly Twitch Top 10s, Feb. 8-14

Grand Theft Auto V remains a uniquely resilient game on Twitch while so-called “dead game” Apex Legends continues its resurgence on the Top 10.

Brazilian Counters-Strike: Global Offensive fans continue their streak as the dominant fandom for the game’s esports broadcasts with the Portuguese stream of the latest BLAST event, once again exceeding the main broadcast.

Twitch’s Top Channel – xQc

The reign of Pokémon is over, or at least slowed down for a week. The latest weekend of competition in the BLAST Premier Series pushed two channels above Maximilian “Trymacs” Alexander Curt Stemmler. Stemmler had claimed second place in the previous two weeks with his focus on Pokémon unboxing.

A drop in his viewership combined with the surging CS:GO esports consumption pushed Stemmler down to fourth place for the week, with the Brazilian BLAST broadcast channel posting nearly 4M hours watched.

Twitch’s Top Content – Just Chatting

Along with a dip for the top Pokémon unboxer, the Just Chatting category fell below 60M hours watched. The Top 10 on the content side remains largely in a firm status quo save for a notable exception — GTA V surpassed League of Legends to claim second place.

LoL’s position as the No, 2 category has been nearly as firm as Just Chatting’s at No. 1, but GTA has proven consistent in its defiance of established trends. The game provides a Minecraft-esque sandbox for an adult audience, making it ideal for Twitch streamers to develop collaborative content together much in the same way Among Us and RUST have served them before.
