Cloud9 Announces $500 “Stratus” Membership Program

LA-based esports organization Cloud9 has revealed its own membership program, meant only for the company’s most dedicated fans. The Cloud9 Stratus program will open on January 1st, 2021, and will cost C9 fans $500 to join. Members will gain access to exclusive benefits and prizes throughout the year.

The Stratus club was announced by Cloud9 CEO Jack Etienne during an AMA on the organization’s Subreddit. Etienne describes the program as an “annual membership experience built for the most loyal of Cloud9 superfans.”

Program members will receive a custom Twitter banner, a “follow back” from Cloud9, a premium FACEIT membership, and access to an exclusive members-only Discord server. They will also gain access to exclusive round-table events with members of Cloud9 (including Jack Etienne himself), community tournaments, and other exclusive digital content.

Members will receive special gift crates from Cloud9 throughout 2021, the first of which is designated as a “welcome” crate. The welcome crate will include a welcome packet and Stratus ID card, a Stratus mousepad, keychain, custom keycaps, as well as a Stratus Edition T-shirt and jersey.

Stratus members will then be gifted two “mystery crates” at some point in 2021. The mystery boxes will include a random assortment of Cloud9 and Stratus items, including T-shirts, hats, and other apparel items. Each mystery crate will include at least one “high value” or Stratus-exclusive item, which may include tickets to the 2021 LCS Finals.

Founded in 2013, Cloud9 is one of the biggest brands in esports. The organization currently hosts teams in a wide variety of games, including VALORANT, CS:GO, League of Legends, and Overwatch. Cloud9 has won multiple championship titles across a variety of games, including multiple LCS domestic titles and a CS:GO Major title.

Cloud9 is not the first esports organization to launch a fan membership program. Envy Gaming, owners of Team Envy, Dallas Empire, and Dallas Fuel, announced its own yearly membership program earlier this week.

Cloud9’s biggest fans are able to pre-register for Stratus right now; those who do will receive emails alerting them to when the program will officially open. Stratus will cost players $500 to join, on an annual basis. Members can either pay once, or over four installments of $125. Stratus will officially launch in January of next year.
